Care for the Environment and Sustainable Agriculture
Agricultural Activities through the Sustainable Agriculture Network of Caritas Thailand
On 11–12 February 2026, twenty members of the Junior
Agriculture Group from Nong Ngu Lueam Subdistrict
participated in a study visit to Ban Man Khao to learn
and exchange experiences in highland agriculture. The
program focused on strengthening skills in organic
farming and applying sustainable agricultural
knowledge within their own communities. Participants
learned about agricultural product processing, the production of bio-fermented solutions and plant hormones, as well
as environmentally friendly and low-cost farming methods. The activity aimed to promote sustainable organic
agriculture and strengthen community-based farming practices for the future.
On 13–14 February 2026, Caritas of Chiang Mai Diocese, with support
from the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, organized a sustainable
agriculture training program for 40 Myanmar youth. The training
aimed to strengthen practical agricultural knowledge and skills that
could be applied within their local communities. The program covered
key topics such as producing organic fertilizer from dry wood fiber to
help reduce agricultural burning and haze pollution, using herbal
extracts as natural insect repellents in safe farming systems, and producing different types of plant hormones to
improve cultivation efficiency. Participants were encouraged to apply the knowledge gained in order to promote
environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture in their own communities.
On 16 March 2026, the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Agriculture Office
provided technical knowledge and capacity-building support to the
Junior Agriculture Group in Nong Ngu Lueam Subdistrict. This marked an
important step in strengthening cooperation between government agencies
and local communities in promoting sustainable agriculture. The initiative
has also expanded into urban community agriculture within the Bang Bon
area, covering six communities, with the goal of becoming a model for the
“Beautiful Front Yard” concept by transforming ornamental plant areas into
household vegetable gardens to enhance community food security. (Note:

“The Genius of Women” – 25 Years of the Desk for Women of the Catholic
Bishops’ Conference of Thailand On 7 March 2026, the Catholic Commission
for Social Development – Desk for Women, together with the Desk for Women
of Bangkok Archdiocese, the
Diocese of Ratchaburi, and
the Diocese of Chanthaburi,
as well as the Desk for
Justice and Peace of Caritas
Thailand, and the Catholic Media of Thailand, jointly organized a
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me," (Matthew 25:40)
